The Guangzhou Internet Court has shed light on the legal protections available for virtual assets through a recent press conference. A comprehensive report, titled ‘Research Analysis on the Legal Nature and Civil Judicial Protection Path of Network Virtual Assets,’ was released outlining the court’s approach to this evolving field. The report outlines two categories: real-world mapped virtual assets and network-constructed virtual assets, providing clarity for legal interpretations. Notably, it emphasizes that any activities intending to undermine the established legal currency status are not protected by law and that losses incurred due to illegal transactions involving virtual currencies must be borne solely by investors themselves.
