ZKsync Recovers Stolen Tokens After Hacker Returns Funds Through Bounty Agreement

ZKsync has successfully recovered nearly $5.7 million in stolen tokens following a hacker’s agreement to return the funds under a bounty agreement. The recovery came after the hacker complied with the 72-hour deadline set by the ZKsync Security Council for returning 90% of the stolen assets, receiving a reward along the way. This move follows a security breach on April 15 during a token airdrop event. Hackers exploited vulnerabilities in the airdrop contract to mint an unprecedented 111 million tokens, which were valued at $5 million at the time. Following the breach, ZKsync initiated a bounty program to encourage the hacker’s cooperation and swift resolution of the issue.
