Meta Reduces Reality Labs Staff As Company Streamlines Operations

Meta Platforms is undertaking a significant workforce reduction within its Reality Labs division, which oversees virtual reality and wearable technology. Reports suggest over 100 employees are being laid off, impacting those involved in developing VR experiences for Meta’s Quest headset and individuals responsible for hardware operations. The move aims to consolidate similar tasks currently carried out by two separate teams within Reality Labs. While the exact number of affected employees remains undisclosed, Meta spokesperson Tracy Clayton confirmed the restructuring and indicated some Oculus Studios teams will experience team size adjustments.
