CME Group to Launch XRP Futures on May 19

CME Group, the world’s leading derivatives marketplace, is set to list XRP futures contracts on May 19th, contingent upon regulatory approval. This move comes in response to growing demand for XRP, a cryptocurrency utilized by the XRP Ledger (XRPL), which has gained traction among both institutional and retail investors. The new contracts will be offered in two sizes: a micro contract with 2,500 XRP and a larger contract spanning 50,000 XRP. Both will utilize a cash-settlement system, meaning traders won’t receive actual XRP but rather the cash equivalent at the time of settlement. The pricing will be based on the CME CF XRP-Dollar Reference Rate, calculated daily at 4:00 p.m. London time.
