U.S. States Take Legal Action against Trump’s Tariffs

Several U.S. states, including New York, Arizona, and Colorado, have taken legal action challenging former President Donald Trump’s trade policies. On April 23, these states filed a lawsuit in the U.S. Court of International Trade aiming to halt the implementation of those tariffs. The suit argues that the tariffs are illegal, seeking a court declaration to validate this position. This lawsuit follows California Governor Gavin Newsom’s April 16 statement accusing the Trump administration of abusing tariff policies and initiating his own legal challenge against these measures. Newsom was the first state government to voice opposition to these tariffs.
