Solana and XRP Lead in Race for Cryptocurrency ETFs

According to Bloomberg analyst Eric Balchunas, the number of cryptocurrency-related exchange-traded fund (ETF) applications has reached a record 72. The Ripple-linked XRP token is currently the top contender for approval in the U.S., with companies like Grayscale, Bitwise, and Wisdomtree vying for XRP-specific products. Solana (SOL), meanwhile, is neck-and-neck with XRP, boasting 11 filings, including one from mutual fund giant Fidelity. Litecoin (LTC) and Cardano (ADA) are also considered potential candidates for ETF approval under the new SEC administration. The filings encompass a range of tokens, including Dogecoin (DOGE), Pepe (PEPE), SUI, and other less conventional options. The number of applications will need to be reviewed by incoming SEC head Paul Atkins, whose nomination was confirmed by the U.S. Senate recently. Balchunas predicts 2025 will see a surge in cryptocurrency ETF offerings.
