Bybit Breach: Over Two-thirds of Stolen Funds Remain Traceable

Nearly two months after the devastating $1.4 billion security breach at Bybit, its CEO Ben Zhou has provided new insights into the ongoing recovery efforts. The executive summary reveals that over 69% of the stolen assets remain traceable on the blockchain. In a detailed post shared on X (formerly Twitter), Zhou outlines how North Korean hackers, known as Lazarus Group, executed the largest-known crypto exchange heist to date. While much of the stolen cryptocurrency has been concealed through sophisticated privacy tools, Bybit’s internal investigations indicate a majority of funds can still be traced across the blockchain.
