South Korea to Meet U.S. for Trade Talks as Economic Pressures Mount

This week, South Korea and the United States will engage in trade talks requested by Washington. The discussions, taking place during the IMF and World Bank spring gatherings, come amid growing economic tensions stemming from tariffs, exports, and currency volatility. The meeting will involve Finance Minister Choi Sang-mok and Trade Minister Ahn Duk-geun, who will be leading the Korean delegation. They will meet with U.S. representatives including Trade Representative Jamieson Greer and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.
