Georgieva Warns of Trade Tensions and Economic Resilience

In a speech ahead of the upcoming spring meetings in Washington D.C., IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva warned about the rising global uncertainty stemming from U.S.-led trade tensions and protectionist policies. She indicated that these factors could result in downward revisions to economic growth projections, although a global recession is not anticipated. Georgieva emphasized that while certain nations may experience rising inflation, overall economic resilience remains strong. The IMF will release its latest World Economic Outlook report on April 23rd, next Tuesday.
