Apple Sales Plummet in China, Xiaomi Takes Lead Amidst Market Surge

Apple’s smartphone shipments saw a 9% decline in the first quarter of 2025 in China, marking its seventh consecutive quarter of reduced sales in the region. The company’s market share fell to 13.7%, trailing behind Xiaomi, which surged ahead with a 40% increase in shipments, reaching 13.3 million units. This growth outpaced the overall industry increase of 3.3%. Analysts believe Apple’s challenges stem from its high pricing strategy, limiting its ability to benefit from new government subsidies launched in January.
