Slovenia Plans 25% Crypto Tax on Profits, Seeking Public Feedback

Slovenia’s finance ministry is proposing a 25% capital gains tax on personal cryptocurrency profits. This plan, aiming to align tax laws with existing rules, would apply starting January 1st, 2026 if approved by parliament after a public consultation period. The proposal aims to close loopholes and ensure clarity in taxation for crypto trading. According to Bloomberg Law, this move eliminates exemptions previously given to individuals who buy or sell cryptocurrency.
