WTO Warns of Potential Global Economic Downturn Due to U.S. Tariff Concerns

The World Trade Organization (WTO) has issued a cautionary warning regarding the potential for global economic decline, citing concerns over the possibility of the United States reimposing trade tariffs. If US tariffs are reinstated, the global economy could experience a 1.5% contraction in 2025, with ripple effects throughout various sectors. In response to this concerning scenario, the WTO has revised its outlook for merchandise trade growth in 2025 from an initial projection of 3.0% to -0.2%.
