Google Faces UK Class Action Lawsuit Over Market Dominance

A class action lawsuit has been filed against Google in the UK’s Competition Appeal Tribunal, alleging the company abused its near-monopoly position to hinder competitors and artificially inflate advertising costs. The suit, led by legal scholar Or Brook, on behalf of organizations utilizing Google search advertising services since January 1, 2011, seeks over £5 billion in damages. The complaint claims that Google’s anti-competitive practices include agreements with mobile manufacturers and Apple to restrict competing advertising tools, ultimately manipulating the market for its benefit.
