Binance, KuCoin, MEXC Halt Services Due to AWS Network Outage

Several major cryptocurrency exchanges, including Binance, KuCoin, and MEXC, are facing service disruptions due to a widespread network outage stemming from Amazon Web Services (AWS). On April 15th, at least twelve services were impacted by the outage, which has affected these leading exchanges. While users of Binance experienced initial difficulties with some orders failing, others were successfully processed, and withdrawals were restored shortly thereafter. KuCoin and MEXC have also reported similar disruptions, but their platforms are currently experiencing temporary service outages as they work to recover from the AWS outage. While users’ assets remain secure on both platforms, they have faced issues with candlestick charts, order cancellations, and transfers. AWS provides the crucial infrastructure for these centralized crypto exchanges, which handle high transaction volumes and require fast response times for trading orders. The incident highlights the potential vulnerabilities of relying on a single point of failure, particularly in the heavily relied-upon cloud services provided by AWS to the cryptocurrency industry.
