US Senators Propose New Act to Reduce Crypto Mining Emissions

Two US senators, Sheldon Whitehouse and John Fetterman, have proposed the Clean Cloud Act of 2025 to regulate carbon emissions from cryptocurrency mining and AI data centers in the U.S. This legislation aims to impose regional emission caps on facilities using over 100 kW, with penalties for non-compliance. The act also offers incentives for clean energy investments as a long-term strategy.
