Clean Cloud Act Aims to Regulate Cryptocurrency Emissions

Two U.S. Senators, Sheldon Whitehouse and John Fetterman, have introduced a new bill called the ‘Clean Cloud Act of 2025’ in an effort to regulate cryptocurrency mining emissions through stricter standards. This act sets goals for reducing energy consumption across all data centers, with particular focus on facilities exceeding 100 kW capacity. The aim is to achieve net-zero emissions by 2035 through regional caps designed to reduce emissions annually.
