Schiff argues that Bitcoin’s origins were born out of the 2008 financial crisis and points to how flaws in the system then served as the foundation for Bitcoin’s creation. The whitepaper, which aimed to create a decentralized, peer-to-peer currency resistant to government control, was a direct response to the failures of traditional banks in 2008. Schiff believes that global economic tremors of the coming years will make Bitcoin vulnerable and investors will seek refuge in safer assets like gold or cash.
