Africa Faces 131.6 Million Web Threats: Kenya and South Africa Top the List

As Africa’s digital landscape continues to expand, so too does its vulnerability to cybersecurity threats. New data from Kaspersky Security Network reveals a startling number of web attacks targeting businesses and individuals across the continent in 2024. With over 131.6 million web-based threats detected, experts say this trend is linked to rapid digitalization and evolving cybercrime tactics. The figures highlight Kenya’s top spot with nearly 20 million attack attempts followed by South Africa at 17 million and Morocco at 12.6 million. While global cyberattacks rose by 1.2%, these numbers emphasize the urgent need for improved cybersecurity measures across the continent.
