Paul Atkins Confirmed as New SEC Chair

The U.S. Senate has confirmed Paul Atkins as the new chair of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), following a 51-45 vote. This decision, largely along party lines, came several months after President Trump initially nominated him to lead the commission last year. Atkins previously served as an SEC commissioner from 2002 to 2008 and will now succeed Mark Uyeda, who has held the position since January 20.
