EU Suspends U.S. Tariffs for 90 Days: Could This Spark a New Trading Opportunity?

The European Union has announced a 90-day suspension of retaliatory tariffs against US tariffs, taking action in hopes to open the door to dialogue with the US. The decision was made by EU President Ursula von der Leyen and comes ahead of planned retaliatory measures on steel and aluminum industries set for April 15th and May 15th. While this could offer a temporary reprieve from trade tensions, some industry sectors may still be impacted. Von der Leyen emphasized the EU’s willingness to negotiate while staying prepared to respond with further tariffs if necessary.
