Ether ETF Staking Could Arrive as Soon as May, Analyst Suggests

Bloomberg Intelligence analyst James Seyffart suggests that U.S.-based Ether exchange-traded funds (ETFs) might be granted permission to begin staking a portion of their tokens as early as May. This would come after the SEC approved options contracts for spot Ethereum (ETH) ETFs in April, following a similar greenlight for Bitcoin (BTC) ETF options in September. However, the approval of these staking opportunities is still pending from the SEC, despite issuers filing numerous requests earlier this year.
Seyffart highlights that clearing options contracts could be a crucial step towards regulatory approval for staking services in the U.S., with potential deadlines as early as May or August before the final approval deadline of October.
