SEC Approves Options on Ether ETFs for Institutional Investors

The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has approved options trading for multiple spot Ethereum exchange-traded funds (ETFs), a move expected to broaden the investment appeal of Ether among institutional investors. The SEC issued this approval on April 9 after reviewing a proposed rule change from BlackRock, which had submitted its iShares Ethereum Trust (ETHA) proposal in July 2024. Similar approvals were granted to Bitwise Ethereum ETF (ETHW), Grayscale Ethereum Trust (ETHE), and Grayscale Ethereum Mini Trust (ETH). Additionally, Fidelity Ethereum Fund (FETH) was approved for this option trading.
