Turkish Finance Minister Sees Opportunity Amid US Tariffs

Turkey’s Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek believes the US tariffs imposed by President Donald Trump on Turkish exports will ultimately benefit the country and allow it to outperform other markets. He argues that while global markets have been negatively impacted, the Turkish economy is better positioned than others due to a lower tariff rate, robust trade relations with the EU, and free trade agreements with Middle Eastern and Central Asian nations. Şimşek’s optimism stems from the fact that Turkey’s exports are primarily targeted towards countries within these agreements.
