Panic-Fueled Bitcoin Transaction Wastes Over $70,000 in Fees

A user’s frantic attempt at re-routing a Bitcoin transaction resulted in them paying over $70,000 in fees. The misdirected move involved an ‘replace-by-fee’ (RBF) attempt to alter the transaction details shortly after midnight UTC on April 8th. This second RBF saw the user pay nearly 0.75 BTC ($70,500). Notably, the original transaction had been subject to a default or conservative fee.
