As per PANews, user spending on in-app purchases from India has been relatively low, amounting to approximately $8 million since 2023. This figure pales in comparison to the substantial $330 million spent by users in the United States. The discrepancy stems from the high monthly subscription cost of $20 and a lack of localized pricing options. OpenAI is actively seeking solutions through partnerships, including one with Indian telecom giant Jio, to expand its user base across India’s vast population.
