Ethereum Developer Activity Remains Strong; Cosmos & Avalanche Gain Momentum

Ethereum maintains its leading position in blockchain development, recording a significant 183.8K development events. Despite minimal growth (0.89%), the platform continues to attract developers. The ecosystem saw a slight decrease in contributors, dropping from 1.7K to 1.6K developers, but still remains active. In contrast, the BNB Chain witnessed a notable decline in its development activity, down 9.45%, with contributor numbers remaining relatively stable at around 904. Polygon’s activity also declined by 10.35%, though developer contributions rose slightly to reach 704. 2 Layer-2 solutions, Arbitrum and Optimism, saw declines in development activity as well. While both experienced a dip of 7.62% and 6.82% respectively, their growth rates for contributors were less drastic – with Arbitrum’s base growing by 3.03%, while Optimism increased by 0.39%. Meanwhile, Avalanche, experiencing a substantial drop of 12.08% in development activity, saw contributor numbers rise by 4.49%. The Cosmos project emerged as the top performer in terms of growth between its development activity and market positioning within the top 10 blockchain projects. Despite a decline of 1.33% in development events at 46.1K, the platform witnessed a noticeable increase in contributor numbers by 5.45% to reach 416. Further down the rankings, Solana, Harmony, and Polkadot experienced significant declines in developer activity, with Solana’s drop of 7.6%, and its contributor base increasing. Harmony suffered a larger decline, dropping by 13.19%. The number of contributors to this project dropped by 2.62% while still holding at 371 individuals. Polkadot finished as the tenth-ranked project with 34K developer events, down 8.04%. Its contributor base shrunk by 0.91%, leaving it with a total of 325 contributors. While these projects are experiencing declines, their persistent development activities remain a crucial factor in the blockchain ecosystem’s continued growth.
