American and Vietnamese businesses have joined forces to ask for a postponement of planned tariffs on goods from Vietnam. As reported by Odaily, these companies argue that the 46% tariff increase would negatively impact their operations and trade relationships with each other. This appeal was made through a letter sent to Commerce Secretary Lutnick on Saturday. The Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry, along with the American Chamber of Commerce in Hanoi, voiced concerns over the significantly high tariffs set to come into effect on Wednesday. A joint statement from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce emphasizes that reducing tariffs on products entering both countries would benefit American businesses, the economy, and consumers. Conversely, higher tariffs would not yield these positive outcomes.
