Argentine President Javier Milei has pledged to adapt legislation in response to US tariffs imposed on Argentine goods. While the U.S. has implemented a 10% tariff on certain products from Argentina, Milei asserts his willingness to cooperate with President Trump and address the requirements of the reciprocal trade proposal. He highlights progress made, noting that he’s already fulfilled nine out of sixteen of the tariff requirements and is working towards addressing the remaining ones. Milei also pledged to swiftly resolve any remaining issues with the US. He believes these changes will facilitate a free trade agreement between the two nations, ultimately leading to the elimination of tariffs or trade restrictions. 10% tariffs on specific Argentine products were imposed by the U.S., while Argentina’s exports to the United States increased by over 13% year-on-year in 2024, resulting in a positive trade balance for the country in nearly two decades.
