Bitcoin Developer Proposes Quantum-Resistant Address Migration Protocol

A proposal for quantum-resistant address migration is circulating within the Bitcoin community. Agustin Cruz, a Bitcoin developer, has submitted a draft known as the Quantum-Resistant Address Migration Protocol (QRAMP) to the Bitcoin-Dev mailing list. This proposal offers code for a hard fork consensus change aimed at addressing UTXOs vulnerable to quantum attacks. If QRAMP gains widespread agreement and is implemented in the main version of the Bitcoin Core software, a deadline will be set for users to move their coins into secure quantum-resistant wallets. Failing this, those attempting to spend from legacy wallets will encounter rejections, effectively taking these funds out of circulation.
