Lazarus Group Achieves $2.5 Million Profit from Selling WBTC

North Korea’s Lazarus Group has reportedly generated a $2.51 million profit by selling 40.78 Wrapped Bitcoin (WBTC), acquired two years ago. Analysis of blockchain data reveals the group spent roughly $999,900 USDT to purchase the WBTC at an average price of around $24,521 in February 2023, before selling it for approximately $1.857 million worth of Ethereum (ETH) today. The group then distributed a portion of the gains into three separate wallets. This marks their second significant profit-making opportunity within a short time frame following a recent successful exploit on the crypto exchange Bybit.
