DDoS Attacks Take Center Stage as Geopolitical Weapon

Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS) attacks have surpassed traditional cyber threats, becoming a dominant weapon in political warfare, according to network security firm Netscout. A surge in global activity during the second half of 2024, representing a staggering 12.7% increase compared to the first half, has placed DDoS attacks firmly on the geopolitical stage. This trend is particularly evident in Latin America and Asia-Pacific regions, where activity jumped by 30% and 20% respectively.
