FAT Brands Embraces Bitcoin for Franchise Payments

FAT Brands, a company behind popular restaurant franchises like Fatburger, Johnny Rockets, and Round Table Pizza, has taken a significant step forward by integrating Bitcoin payments into its franchise royalty system. This marks FAT Brands as the first major restaurant franchise to offer this option, revolutionizing the way royalties are handled for both domestic and international franchisees. The announcement was made in a press release where Thayer Wiederhorn, Chief Operating Officer of FAT Brands, explained the company’s decision to embrace Bitcoin: “Over years, Bitcoin has become mainstream and as a company, we see great value in expanding our payment forms for our franchisees, especially for those who work internationally. Over 20% of our portfolio is comprised of international partners.” Wiederhorn highlights that Bitcoin will facilitate faster and more efficient royalty payments across borders, simplifying the process for franchises globally. “We look forward to utilizing Bitcoin as an efficient tool for streamlining and simplifying the payment process and are excited to be at the forefront of this evolution in embracing Bitcoin’s growth,” he added. FAT Brands believes its adoption of Bitcoin positions the company ahead of the curve in the growing cryptocurrency industry, potentially inspiring other restaurant chains to adopt similar payment options.
