Japan’s Rapidus Starts Testing Next-Gen Chip Production

Japan is taking a giant leap forward in its quest for semiconductor independence with Rapidus, a government-backed chip company, now commencing testing of next-generation chip production. This marks a crucial early step toward Japan achieving independent manufacturing of artificial intelligence components. Rapidus aims to begin mass production of semiconductors using cutting-edge 2-nanometer process technology by 2027. Their target is to potentially match the production prowess of TSMC, a global semiconductor giant.
