Kalshi Takes Legal Action Against States Over Sports Betting Contracts

Prediction market platform Kalshi has challenged state regulators’ cease-and-desist orders related to its sports-related event contracts, claiming they conflict with federal regulatory authority. The company argues that its platform operates as a commodities exchange under the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), not as an unlicensed sports betting operator.
