Apple Faces €1.5 Billion Fine for Privacy Violations

According to PANews, the French antitrust authority has imposed a €1.5 billion (approximately $1.62 billion) fine on Apple for allegedly violating EU privacy rules. The penalty is due to Apple’s App Tracking Transparency (ATT) system, which reportedly does not fully comply with the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). The French regulatory body issued this significant penalty based on their assessment that Apple’s ATT framework was “unnecessary and disproportionate” in its implementation.
