This article outlines recent cybersecurity developments, focusing on alarming phishing attacks targeting cryptocurrency users and the actions taken against online child exploitation platforms. Coinbase and Ledger customers were victims of a phishing campaign sending out seed-phrases to steal cryptocurrencies. In this scheme, attackers impersonate well-known mass-mailing platforms like Mailchimp or SendGrid to access marketers’ corporate email accounts. They then send spam emails with fake upgrade notifications containing the victim’s seed phrase to supposedly enable secure asset transfers. If the victim follows these instructions, they risk losing control of their funds. Meanwhile, North Korean hackers are utilizing a new tactic called ‘ClickFix’ to infiltrate potential job applicants in AI and cryptocurrency fields. Hackers pretend to be legitimate employers and redirect victims to fake interview pages that download malicious software upon navigating them. In addition to stealing cryptocurrencies, the malware can access sensitive data like cookies, browsing history, system information, and more.
