Safe Addresses Bybit Hack Investigation Findings

Safe has released a statement on X (formerly Twitter) following the forensic investigation of the Bybit hacking incident conducted by the Lazarus Group, according to PANews. The investigation revealed that the attack exploited a compromised Safe{Wallet} developer machine used for malicious transactions disguised as legitimate ones. This group, known for sophisticated social engineering tactics and exploiting zero-day vulnerabilities, is linked to North Korean government activity. Independent security researchers have found no vulnerabilities in the Safe{Wallet} smart contract or its source code for front-end and services. 🛡️ Following this incident, the Safe{Wallet} team undertook a thorough investigation to restore their service on the Ethereum mainnet, rebuilding and reconfiguring all infrastructure, replacing all credentials to eliminate attack vectors, and is preparing a post-mortem analysis upon completion. The Safe{Wallet} front-end remains operational with enhanced security measures in place, while users are advised to exercise caution when signing transactions. ⚠️
